Never mention competitors. Sell only results. Bet everything on launch day. Appeal only to logic. You hear these everywhere, and they’re expensive.
Naming a competitor can make your difference obvious. A promised result only convinces if something in the product makes it possible. A launch lasts weeks, not a day. Buyers also decide on trust. And no AI replaces the judgement it takes to position a product.
None of this means the original advice is useless. Focusing on outcomes is a good instinct, and launch day does matter. The trouble comes from following a rule without asking whether it fits your market, your buyers and your stage.
Our rule of thumb: if a piece of advice would apply to every company in every market, it probably isn’t specific enough to help yours.
